New HPC Centres JADE and the MMM Hub were revealed last week at the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) High Performance Computing (HPC) Launch Event at Thinktank Birmingham Science Museum. EPSRC has funded the SES member-led consortia with £7 million in a bid to develop two new HPC machines in Machine Learning and Materials and Molecular Modelling (respectively).

The event provided a unique overview of the six new Tier 2 centres (based at UCL, The University of Oxford, The University of Cambridge, The University of Edinburgh, GW4 and HPC Midlands Plus), with EPSRC CEO Prof. Phillip Nelson emphasising the growing desire for UK universities to collaborate. JADE and the MMM Hub reflect this sentiment, with Co-Investigator from across all SES institutions and the wider UK HPC landscape co-ordinating to develop the new centres.
