Research Software Engineers for the Future: Careers Panel @RSEConUK 2019
September 18 @ 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm
Research Software Engineering is a relatively new career path within academia. Research Software engineers apply their expertise in programming to address research questions. The Software Sustainability Institute and the SES Consortium are hosting a panel at RSEConUK 2019. We aim to increase awareness of the value of research software engineering and to support their career development.
Developing support within academia for RSE communities takes time and can require the support from senior stakeholders. The panel provides the opportunity for you to hear senior representatives from universities and the RSE leaders discussing challenges they have faced and insights gained from supporting software engineering communities.
We need your help to ensure that this panel to addresses the key questions and issues that you have! We are collecting questions and identifying key themes to ask the panel. Please submit your questions online: https://app2.sli.do/event/exx3hjdn
RSEConUK 2019, the UK RSE community conference (17th – 19th September 2019) will bring together more than 400 RSEs, researchers, developers and people with many other roles who are all interested in research software for a packed programme of talks, workshops, tutorials and the opportunity to meet and network.
We hope you’ll be able to join us on the 18th September at RSEConUK 2019.
